INTERPRETATIVE READING Course #6
At this meeting, we discussed our lecture material on "Topics of Paragraphs". Where A paragraph is a group of sentences that are all about the same thing. That is, they all have the same topic. Lectures at this meeting as usual. We did a virtual learning process using the Teams application. We discussed a little material about “Topics of Paragraphs”. We read carefully two groups of sentences that look like a sentence, then determine whether they are paragraphs or not. And a group of sentences that are paragraphs are sentences that discuss the same thing or the same topic.
After discussing the lecture in the Teams application, we worked on an activity in the form of an exercise given in Syam-ok. This exercise is in the form of recognizing the topic of a paragraph. Where when we read a paragraph, we will think and wonder what the content of the paragraph is. And those questions by reading and knowing the contents of the paragraphs then we can determine which topic is too specific and which one is too general. The next exercise is about Stating the topic of a paragraph. Where we determine what the topic of this paragraph is and make sure It should not be too specific or too general. Next, regarding Finding the topic sentence, where we read each paragraph and underline the topic sentence. Remember, the topic sentence is not always the first sentence in a paragraph, because many paragraphs include a topic sentence that tells the topic of the sentence group.
